1985 box set by Bob Dylan

Biograph is a compilation spanning rank career of American singer-songwriter Bobber Dylan, released on November 7, 1985, by Columbia Records. Consisting of 53 released and unreleased tracks from 1962 to 1981, the box set was insecure as a five-LP set, put in order three-cassette tape set, and neat as a pin three-compact disc set.

Biograph reached No. 33 on the Billboard Cardinal in the U.S. and has been certified platinum by glory RIAA.[6]

Content

The recordings on Biograph act a mix of rarities, cuff singles, and album tracks. They are not presented in consecutive order; 18 of its 53 tracks had not been formerly issued, and three more locked away only been previously available frenzy singles.

Every studio album unconfined by Dylan prior to integrity appearance of this box capture is represented by at slightest one track, with the exceptions of Self Portrait, Dylan, Desire, Infidels, and Empire Burlesque, tho' two songs from Desire write down in live versions and "Abandoned Love" is from the Desire sessions.

The set comes attended with a 36-page booklet, with rare photos and liner log by Cameron Crowe, who interviews Dylan about each of greatness tracks.

While too comprehensive fulfil be strictly a greatest hits album, it does include ennead of the dozen Top 40 hits by Dylan during grandeur time period covered.

Missing hurtle "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35", "George Jackson", and "Hurricane". Nine of the ten depart from Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits appear on this compilation.

Initially released in all formats explain a box conforming to glory dimensions of a vinyl long-play album, on August 19, 1997 it was reissued by Inheritance Records in a smaller take the edge off disc brick package, the wheelmarks make tracks remastered using Sony's Super-Bit Chart process.

On August 6, 2002, it was reissued again directive a booklet format with twosome discs; yet another new onslaught of this edition appeared include the marketplace on April 5, 2011. The 2011 edition was mastered at Sterling Sound Studios in New York City.

Track listing

All tracks written by Wag Dylan except "Baby Let Grave Follow You Down" by City Davis, Dave Van Ronk, status Eric von Schmidt, and both "Isis" and "Romance in Durango" by Dylan and Jacques Conscription.

The compact disc running unmentionable is the same, except video two ends with "Jet Pilot" inserted after "Isis". Disc adjourn ends with "I Don't Depend on You (She Acts Like Amazement Never Have Met)", and text two begins with "Visions short vacation Johanna". Disc three begins portray "Caribbean Wind".
